Hokuto no Ken
also known as Fist of the North Star is a Manga series by illustrated by Tetsuo Hara and Written by Buronson
from 1983 to 1988.
Shortly after the start of its syndication due to the popularity of the work Toei Animation adapted and produced the anime series in 1984, airing on Fuji Tv and affliate channels.
It had two seasons making the episode total to be 152.
There have been spin-off manga, ova, anime, and movies. Some being comedy like DD Hokuto no Ken and Hokuto no Ken: Ichigo Aji the latter of which focusing on Souther and the Nanto Seiken. Some being more serious such as the Gaiden Spin-Offs focusing on the stories untold of other characters such as Yuria, Toki, and Rei to list a few.
Ichigo Aji also includes Gaidens at the end of the Tankoban releases of Shin, Yuda, Shuu, Souther, and others like Mr. Heart to list a few.
It is currently the 40th Anniversary of the series with news of new merch, pop-up stores, and a new anime is on the horizon.
I got into the series shortly after getting into Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and shortly after my parents divorce. Kenshiro is like a second father to me, I sometimes wish I was him or had him by me. I'm happily awaiting for the Hokuto No Ken remake anime production details.
